What does well-being look like for you right now — in this season of life?
I definitely need regular exercise, especially running. I also really value time spent catching up with friends. It’s grounding and reminds me of who I am outside of the roles I play.
Do you have a daily or weekly ritual that helps you feel grounded or more like you?
I’ve become obsessed with running. I recently completed a half marathon — a goal I have had for a while. I find running meditative and freeing, and it makes me feel more like myself. I was very sporty growing up and before having kids, so having time now to prioritise fitness feels grounding. I also love dogs and spending time with my energetic Hungarian Vizsla, who’s always ready for a run.
What’s a wellness product or practice you swear by at the moment?
Since my kids are a bit older and more independent, prioritising self-care has become important to me. We’re so lucky in New Zealand to have access to incredible local skincare brands — many of them founded by inspiring women. My evening skincare ritual has become a treasured time of peace and indulgence. I rotate and use a mix of Raaie, Emma Lewisham, Tronque, The Facialist and TWYG, EmbodyMe oils — it's my moment to unwind and reset.
What’s your go-to snack when you need energy but don’t have time?
Betty Bars! I’m genuinely addicted. They’ve been amazing during marathon training. Otherwise, I’ll usually reach for nuts, seed crackers, or whip up a quick smoothie.
If you had a personal mantra or affirmation for motherhood, what would it be?
I’ve carried a mantra with me for years — a gift from a spiritual friend after we experienced the heartbreak of losing several babies on our journey to parenthood. She wrote it down for me and told me to say it ten times a day. Honestly, it really helped me recover and feel better. And it has stayed with me over the years ever since. It’s a gentle reminder of how lucky and strong I am, and an encouragement to extend grace to others:
“I am happy, I am healthy, I am beautiful and blessed. I am full of grace, and I am full of strength.”
How has your view of self-care changed since becoming a mum?
Time to myself has become essential. Even a quick 20-minute run around the block or a 10-minute walk with the dog makes a difference. I adore my kids and love being with them, but I really cherish those moments alone — they help me stay connected to myself.
Why do you love Betty Bars — and which flavour are you most likely to hide from the rest of the family?
I actually hide all of them — they live in my office drawer! I was extremely loyal to the Caramel Cookie Dough, but now I can’t pick a favourite. I love getting the mixed bundle — I find myself craving different flavours on different days.
What’s something small you do that makes a big difference to how you feel?
Exercise — I couldn’t live without it. It’s my ultimate stress release. My Monday morning run is particularly sacred. I call it my board meeting run because I run along a boardwalk and use the time to plan, reflect and think creatively. It’s the best way to start the week — I always feel focused and ready.
What’s one lesson from motherhood you wish more women were told?
There’s no such thing as perfect balance. Just go with the flow and stop trying to control everything.
What does being a mother mean to you in just one word?
Strength.
